WOW!! What can I say other than yummmm.. I traveled to Carlsbad today and ate at the Red Chimney Pit BBQ. What did I have? The chopped beef plate with beans and macaroni salad. I don't think I have ever had such wonderful food.. The chopped beef was tender and just melted in my mouth. VERY GOOD!! I don't think I have ever had Macaroni salad with cheese in it. I didn't particularly like it but I am not much of a Macaroni salad person either, but I did eat it and it was ok.. The beans were great as well.. They were just slightly seasoned to taste and was just right. The Peach pie tasted just like moms. The ice tea was even great.. I just couldn't get enough so I took a pound of the chopped beef and a large ice tea for the road. It had been several years since I had eaten here, I was really glad that I stopped in today. I will most defiantly visit them again.. Oh and the service was just as wonderful as the food. The waitress was friendly but not over friendly and made sure I had plenty of ice tea. She checked back often but was not one that bugged all the time...

Food in Hobbs NM
I love to eat and I eat out all the time.. So I have decided to leave my two cents about the restaurants that I visit. Most of the restaurants that I review will be in Lea County the majority being in Hobbs.. I do also eat in Lovington and outside of Lea County, such as Carlsbad, Clovis and Lubbock Texas..
Today I will talk about the Hobbs Family Inn which used have a really good coffee shop. It is now a mexican restaurant El Caballero #2.... I am sorry to say that it was a bad experience! The food was cold, dry and tasteless. The service was even worse than the food. I had the steak rancheros that tasted the same as cardboard. I ordered queso with my chips and salsa that did not even arrive till I had 5 chips left and was very cold. Needless to say I DOUBT that I will ever go back to this restaurant again..
